I hope for UNI and the MVC that this doesn't happen.

I don't think I've seen anything about there being mutual interest....yet.

I'm curious, do Panther fans know of a Jacobson "dream job?" It seems like Shocker fans always figured Turgeon wanted KU, and Marshall wants South Carolina.

I do know that after their sweet 16 run, Jacobson did make it a point to say that he was very happy where he was, and had no aspirations to go anywhere else, but you never know after the big bucks are waived in front of their noses.

It would be fascinating to know if each and every coach in the MVC truly believes he is capable of winning a national championship, or if it's not a big deal to him.

It's obvious that Mark Turgeon had that belief. Who else recently or currently in the MVC have that honest belief about their abilities?

I don't think that there is/has been any specific "dream job" for coach Jake, but one job that some UNI fans have worried about in the past is that Minnesota job. Would seem like a great fit for him, being that he grew up in and played in the region at ND, and heavily recruits Minn at UNI.

I would be pretty surprised if there is mutual interest with this A&M job. Coach Jake has declined to even speak to similar 'big' schools at their requests, and has continually went out of his way to make it clear that he wants to be at UNI, and is not at all looking to leave anytime soon.

But, its college basketball, so you never know...

What point are you trying to make exactly?

Are you trying to say that you cannot win a national title at wichita state, and that is why Turgeon left?.... :Bam:

A national title at WSU -- why not? It's all in coaching and personnel. WSU isn't the only Valley school that could have the potential for a deep run in March or even a national title.

As to what Turgeon thought --- my personal view (in other words, MY opinion only) is that Mark never viewed WSU as anything but the next stepping stone to (in his opinion) greater things, ala all his "at this level" comments about recruiting. He knew the cupboard was going to be pretty bare for his next year and it would be "rebuilding" once again because some of his previous recruiting classes hadn't worked out. Hence, he jumped when A&M called. I really don't know if he would have been considered for the A&M slot when Gillespie went to Kentucky if it hadn't been for the fact the A&M AD was his good friend. Mark is a good coach and when recruiting is easier (as it was at A&M and will be even more so at Tennessee), he should do well. He just needs to surround himself with good recruiters (because I personally think that is one of Mark's lesser achievements). When he left, I still wished him luck (at least after a few months I did). I still think we got the better deal in Marshall. He too will probably venture forth when the right job comes open, but I think Shocker fans know this and are better prepared for it this time around. We got a great coach in Marshall when MT left, so there is no reason we won't attract a great coach if Marshall should leave.

Oh, I'm sorry, could you please point out where I said he was not interested?
