MSU to Conference USA?

Thats the rumor I'm hearing all over the place right now. Based on what's been going on behind the scenes now for the last several months, I think it may well be true.

I hope this comes true. The dream scenario for me. Getting into a league where we won't get snubbed every year on selection day. I'd certainly miss some of the rivalries but I think most Valley schools would jump at this if they had the option.

This would 100% have to do with football, no?

In large part yes. But I would say it is a step up in most sports overall athletic and academic prestige. I think we have more in common with those schools in the Conf USA. Houston, Tulane, UCF, and so forth.

That would be an absolutely awesome move for MSU. I don't wish to see MSU leave the Valley. The loss of MSU would take the Valley down a notch, which has been the pattern for the Valley for the last 40 years.

The only positive I could see for WSU is that WSU wold be even more isolated geographically from the rest of the MVC and that might increase the pressure for WSU to find another conference as well.

The other rumor out there with this one is that WSU is also invited with us as the 14th C-USA team...who knows, may all be BS but we all keep hearing this over and over. http://ncaabbs.com/showthread.php?tid=501144&page=1

Dream picture for MSU moving would be if WSU adds football and moves with us.

I highly doubt we see this happen any time soon. I can't imagine that we would do it for all sports expect football now and then football in 5-7 years when the landscape could change that much more.

I am all for trying to be the best you can in something and was quite vocal with saying that if we stay at the Valley and don't fund football, then drop it. If we do make the move to FBS, then hopefully we don't do it half assed. No point in having a program to lose even more money and no reason to have a program to play 4 buy games a year to fund the rest of the athletics program.

I guess it is a wait and see at this point. Should be exciting to say the least.

I really feel bad "bad mouthing" the Valley here but for the 3 top sports, CUSA is a more notable and better conference. It would be one thing if we knew the Valley would be turning it back around soon in basketball but we could be a one-bid league for the next 5 years.

But I guess the same could be said of CUSA in terms of what teams will actually be there in 5 years. I still think CUSA without Memphis or UCF is still a good conference with the Texas schools, Tulsa, So Miss, Marshall, etc.
