The NCAA’s Division I Board of Directors today unanimously approved the idea that college sports teams not carrying at least a 930 Academic Progress Rate averaged over four years will soon be barred from postseason competition. That means a raising the bar of academic requirements teams will need to meet in order to go dancing in the NCAA tournament, or any other sport's NCAA-sanctioned postseason.

How does your school rank?

Pretty interesting. I like the idea. Here are the last four year averages for MVC men's basketball.

Drake - 969.75
Creighton - 958.25
Illinois State - 955.25
Bradley - 953.75
Indiana State - 950.5
SIU - 949.5
WSU - 948
UNI - 942.25
Evansville - 939.25
Missouri State - 925.75

Pretty surprising to see Evansville so low. In the 4 year period from 04/05 - 07/08, they averaged 904.25.

SWOMO better get it turned around or they won't be able to win another CIT championship.

It's a good thing MSU doesn't have to worry about making the NCAA tourney.

Yeah, we might have to just settle for kicking your butts like we have the past 20 years. You really need to have actually accomplished something yourselves before you try to diss another program. We've been a better program from the minute we stepped in the Valley and I don't see that changing other than the occasional blip, just like the last 20 years.

So in 2014 which D2 conference will UNI be in: the Great Lakes Conference or the MIAA?

What exactly have you guys accomplished in the last 20 years that we haven't? Granted, I'm not an expert on SWOMO history, but...Sweet 16, check. Regular season championship, check. CIT championship...well you got us there. I know you're obsessed with "kicking our butts," but that's not an accomplishment. Looks pretty even to me, the only difference is we're not teetering on the edge of getting hit with a post-season ban.

Don't fire shots with a cap gun and you won't have to worry about how often we kick your butts. Not obsessed with it, just have to remind you of reality everytime you think you're in position to act superior and take shots at MSU. I've never come on here and tried to make our history something it's not. If UNI or CU and even given their recent decline, SIU fans want to throw a little humility our way, I have to tip my hat to them. They've earned it. You haven't, so you get an idiot slap when you forget so.And I wouldn't worry as much about our post season ban as I would about what the final price tag for Torre Murry might be.

The point is this is a topic about APR, which SWOMO fails at. If you want to bring WSU into this, that's your deal. The fact that we haven't beaten you every year for the past 20 years has absolutely nothing to do with your piss-poor APR. If you want to go ahead and make up a topic about WSU and Toure' Murry, then that topic will be about WSU and Toure' Murry, not SWOMO's performance over the past 2 decades.

Also, I would like you to point out which part of my original post is false.

Fair point; took the CTI comment as an unnecessary dig given the accompanying post from Ali of a similar slant. If unintended, my apology.
