This is looking like confirmation of my prediction that CU is #1 in the Valley next year.

The emergence of a legit backup PG is just icing on the cake on a lineup that already had the personnel to win the Valley. CU has potential All-Valley players at every position except SF.

i have a ton of respect for Echenique, McDermott, Manigatt, and Young, but I can't name the SF.

For InSU, the only player I can name without looking it up is Odum. I've got a lot of respect for Odum, but I'm starting to wonder if InSU can hang even fairly close to WSU and CU this season.

Both CU and WSU have reports from their summer trips that they are getting more than they expected (or should have expected) out of their new players. Both McDermott and Marshall have said good things about their new players. I don't think either one of them would do that if they didn't believe it.

I realize we're only getting reports from teams that made early trips this year, but if CU and WSU are getting more than expected out of their new players, it could turn out to be a two-team race.

 You honestly think that GM or McD would say straight up, "Yeah, he's no good" or "He's been a disappointment"?? Sorry but that phrase is laughable and ridiculous.

Is there much debate that going into the season Creighton and Wichita State will be a bit better than everyone else in the league?

I am surprised at how posititve 3G has been. No, he wouldn't say that so and so sucked, but he's not quick to start throwing around a bunch of compliments either.

With that said, regardless of the recent articles about our trips, I think most believed that this season would be a two team race between CU and WSU and nothing I've seen this summer changes that.

I can think of some players that 3G has been pretty positive about that have bombed. While his comments are encouraging, we need to be a little skeptical until we see how the new guys perform during the season.

wait a second...but doesn't Gary Parrish work for CBS? Because if so, I believe this is the guy who refused to rank the UNI Panthers in the top 25 until they beat KU and made the Sweet 16 2 years ago. I wish I saved the email he sent me, it was a classic mid-major analysis by a guy who does nothing but watch BCS teams. The guy knows less about mid-majors as Helen Keller knows about the color spectrum (too soon?) ;)

Okay obviously the guy has a clue but it's late and the lightbulb in my head went off while the censor in my head went to bed.
