Who is the best returning PG in 2011-12?

Postby Wufan » September 25th, 2011, 10:15 am

Here are some stats based on 40 minutes per game:

Odum; 12.1 PPG, 5.1 RPG, 5.3 APG, 2.4 SPG, A:TO = 1.8:1, FT = 73%, FG = 48%, 3PT = 32%
Young: 14.4 PPG, 2.9 RPG, 5.5 APG, 1.0 SPG, A:TO = 2.4:1, FT = 75%, FG = 40%, 3PT = 32%
Ragland: 13.3 PPG, 3.2 RPG, 5.3 APG, 1.2 SPG, A:TO = 2.4:1, FT = 88%, FG = 44%, 3PT = 31%

Thoughts?

I like Odum. He seemed to perform very good in the clutch. At least in the games I saw. He also seemed to get better as the season went on.

Odum, Ragland, and especially Young played better at the end of the season. If you look at post season play, the same statistical similarities hold true.

I don't doubt what you are saying at all. I was just basing my opinion on the games I saw. Regardless I'd still take Odum. I like his size for a PG. He's what 3 or 4 inches taller than the other 2? All 3 are fine players without a doubt though.

No offense WuFan, but this is a stupid thread. Now if you would have entitled it "Who is the 2nd best returning PG in 2011-12?" then you would have had something worthy of a spirited debate.

We all know who the best PG in the league is....and he's also the best PG in the country who would have been leading the Hoosiers to multiple National Championships had the General still been in charge.

Fwiw, I say Young is 2nd best but Ragland was awfully good at the end of the year.

I can't conclude, based on those stats, who the best PG is. The only thing I can conclude is that all three are very good.

Lindys? Okay then. I will say that Odum and Young are much more likely to be recognized with awards as they both average greater than 30 minutes per game. I will be surprised if Rags plays more than 25 mpg.

Young is a better scorer and remarkably quick.
Odum is a better floor general with significantly better court vision, a much better passer and creates any more turnovers.

I think Odum is better (and I'm a CU fan...)

As a floor general that isn't relied on for scoring? Rags, hands down. Shocks have so many talents that can find the hoop, I would want Ragland running the show. He also is a reliable FT shooter. Yeah I know, I'm a homer.
Our last five are still collectively better than your starting lineup.

I dont know if he is a "true" PG...whatever that means, but Dyricus Simms Edwards should be in the discussion. He averaged 12.6 points and 3.8 assists per game in Valley play. Good defender. Will be BU's best player.

I'm not saying he's the best or whatever, but he's in the discussion.
