HUGE year for MVC

Postby FearDaTrees » October 5th, 2011, 10:04 am

I have a feeling that I haven't had in a long time about the MVC. Call me crazy but I really believe the MVC will get at least 3...possibly 4 bids to this years dance.

Creighton will win the MVC Reg. Season and get an at large lock.

Wichita St. will have a nice season as well and I think they will be on the bubble and barely sneak in.

Indiana St.......Back to back MVC Champs????? I think so :Yea!:

Missouri St.....they still have Weems i guess.

This is the year the Valley really needs to snap its one-bid streak. I don't see 3 or 4 bids, but I do see 2. At this point it looks like Creighton and Wichita should both earn at-large bids in the event of an upset at Arch Madness. The key will be for all Valley teams to improve in the non-conference. What really hurt the Valley last year was a pretty awful non-conference season. Not only did Valley teams uniformly fail to capitalize on opportunities, there were some pretty embarrassing losses as well.

As long as the Valley takes care of business in the non-con, I see the Valley getting at least 2 teams into the Big Dance.

I'll take 2 and be happy. We can't be among the one bid leagues any longer.

Having 4 one-bid years has really hurt the perception of the Valley from a media standpoint. You can still see the respect for what the conference was doing just a few short years ago when CBB writers mention the MVC, but for the most part it's not given the same respect it once was.

It only takes one year to drasitcally change perception, though. Even with George Mason's run to the F4, the CAA was never talked about as being among the best non-power six leagues. That all changed last year with 3 bids and the #4 team in the conference making the Final Four.

A little too optimistic but 3-4 would be great. We're in trouble if we only get 1 again.

I will go with 2, maybe 3

Creighton - at large

Wichita State - bubble team that may sneak in

Missouri State - Arch Madness Champs

I think it's going to be a big year for the MVC too. I see 2 to 3 bids.

My prediction is CU and WSU in. And then possibly Indiana State or MSU.

I only really see CU and WSU seperating themselves from the pack in the MVC. Not really sold on Indiana St. just yet.

We should have a very good idea of our bid status after the non-con. If our top teams do well in their MTE's and stay at the top, the bracketbuster could very well get 3 teams in this year.

CU will get an at large, WSU will get an auto bid. MSU will be on the bubble, ISUB is a NIT team at best, more likely the CBI champ. Watch out for ISUR...
Our last five are still collectively better than your starting lineup.
