Closed scrimmage - Colorado at Creighton

Postby LMS » October 30th, 2011, 9:29 am

Last year the Jays had their doors blown off by Colorado although Lawson wasn't playing. Plus Colorado was a lot better last year than they will be this year. Details are to be confidential, but it sounds like the Jays hammered the Buffs pretty good so take that for what it's worth.

What other MVC teams are playing similar scrimmages? Any info coming out on them?

Coach Mac told the Omaha World Herald that there were more positives then negatives so LMS's description was probably accurate...

Good news! The non conference is huge for all the Valley teams, but especially Creighton and Wichita State.

Any scouting information would be most appreciated since defeating the Buffs is paramount to the Shocks having a meaningful preseason campaign.

WSU played UTA yesterday without Murry and probably without Ragland. I just hope we didn't lose to the Southland entry.

What is the word on Ragland? Will he be eligible come spring?

He's not ineligible. He missed class, was told not to do it again, and did it again.

He chose poorly.

I heard he was sent to study hall the night of the open scrimmage, and he didn't get his NIT ring nor was his name even announced (all other current and former players, coaches, managers and the school President and his wife were announced and got rings, whether they were in attendance or not).

It's been rumored he didn't play in the closed scrimmage and that he may sit the exhibition and first game, but none of that has any truth other than rumor....maybe he'll play and maybe he won't, I have no idea.

But he is not ineligible. Gregg has graduated every Senior in his stint at WSU, and that isn't likely to change now.

The word leaked a couple places say the Jays had a pretty easy time with the Buffs. Since no specifics have been leaked no telling it's because the Jays are really good, the Buffs are really bad or a combo of both...probably the latter.

Second hand account said Jays were up 20 at the half and ended up winning something like 75-60. Shockers should have no trouble in that one when they play the Buffs.

If what is being "reported" is accurate:

Creighton defeated Colorado
Indiana State lost to Indiana by 2
Drake beat Northern Illinois
