Best MVC season since '06?

I'm convinced that the Valley is on the upswing and we'll see at least 2 and probably 3 teams in the NCAA tournament. Having a couple of dogs that won't win many games in the conference season actually helps us in terms of NCAA berths as the top teams should be able to get through with more league wins.

If we can keep Marshall and Jacobson in the conference and young players like McDermott play at a high level for 4 years we are in awesome shape.

I can already hear charges of Elgin "gaming the system" with the RPI... You know it's just a matter of time before Bilas or someone like him starts applying his eye test.

This year really looks like the best year since 2006. In addition to having more teams that are better this year, it appears there may be separation between the top teams and the rest of the league. That's important.

When there are 5 or 6 teams duking it out for the league lead, the teams beat up on each other. That's a formula for getting only one bid. In addition to having some solid OOC W's, the potential at-large teams need to clearly demonstrate superiority over the rest of the league.

The Vally may have 4 teams battling for the upper end of the standings. That's probably one too many to get 3 teams into the tourney. It might just be too close to call for which team would get the third bid. When it's too close to call, the Committee finds another league where the decision is easier and gives that league the bid.

'07 was probably about as god as '06, but we just did not have the perfect storm of getting 4 teams in.

Its probably too early to tell, but this year certainly seems like it might be the best year since those 06-07 years.

I think this season is more like 2007 or 2008 than 2006. Right now I think things seem a lot better than they actually are since last year was so horrible.

As long as the top teams avoid losing to SIU, we should get atleast 2, maybe 3 IF these RPI's hold up.

SIU would do the entire conference a huge favor by just forfeiting their conference schedule.

It's easy to beat up on the Salukis right now, but let's remember, their RPI will increase as they go through the conference schedule. As long as the good teams avoid losing to them, it shouldn't be that big of an issue.

2007 was a darn good season. It wasn't quite as good as 06, but it was very good.
