Official 2012-13 MVCfans.com Prediction - 10th Place

It's that time of year again. As we have done for the past two seasons, today we begin our basketball predictions for the 2012-13 Missouri Valley Conference mens basketball season. We will work in reverse order, predicting the 10th place finisher this week and concluding with the predicted MVC champion chosen by our users between the last two teams remaining in week 9. Following the team rankings, we will vote on the individual awards and compare them to the media selections.

For the past two seasons, our users and the media have agreed on their regular season champions, only to have a different team win each time. In 2010-11, Wichita State was the fans/media selection, but it was the Missouri State Bears who won the MVC. Last year, Creighton was the pick, but the Shockers cut down the nets.

I think MSU and BU end up behind SIU this year.

I think it should be between BU and SIU for last with MSU finishing above both of them. All of them lost their best players, but MSU probably has the best recruiting class.

(NOTE: Desmar Jackson was my pick for NOY. After the recent bike theft however, I'm not exactly sure I see him staying on the roster all year...)

Also, what is up with all the stealing? Last year it was Drake players stealing socks, now SIU students are stealing bikes from their classmates...

I looked back to last year - Southern Illinois received 35% of the 10th place votes, but as you know, the Salukis did not finish in last place.

I went with Indiana State. I think they are rebuilding completely.

I went with SIU. It'll take them awhile to recover from Lowery term.

Voting has been pretty interesting so far. If you haven't voted yet, I will close the 10th place selection on Monday around 5pm.

I think we learned last year that there are a couple of WSU posters that deliberately vote for WSU low in these polls and later claim a lack of respect.

It would be nice if the votes were public like we used to have on VT to eliminate this sort of stuff.
