Ironic, if report is true, that two fired coaches faced off in the South region. Tubby beats UCLA, but still gets sent to the shed.

I think Jake is on the list, just not very close to the top of it. They would have to have 5 or 6 guys (Smart, Howland, Flip Saunders, etc) say no to make Jake a realistic candidate. They have no desire to play that style...

I would guess that would depend on the size of the check they wave in front of him. I think his lack of interest in the A&M job a couple years ago means he won't be quick to jump unless the situation is right. Minneapolis is closer to his roots, but he's already in the upper Midwest. Like BC mentioned, there are other candidates who make more sense for the Gophers. He would be a 2nd or 3rd choice at best. Not a great position to start out from.

Some are. But the timing and situation seems really off to me. They don't think Tubby has been recruiting well enough. I think Jake is a good recruiter, but I'm not sure I can make that case in a way that the average Gopher fan will buy it. Jake has built and maintained a consistent winner at UNI with a splash of big success 3 years ago. They already have a consistently winning program up there.

The fans that are really worried are only looking at geography because Jake grew up in North Dakota. Why would you want to go to the Big Ten school with the worst facilities and budget??
