Official 2013-14 MVCfans.com Prediction - 10th Place

As we have done for the past three seasons, today we begin our basketball predictions for the 2013-14 Missouri Valley Conference men's basketball season. We will work in reverse order, predicting the 10th place finisher this week and concluding with the predicted MVC champion chosen by our users between the last two teams remaining in week 9. Following the team rankings, we will vote on the individual awards and compare them to the media selections.

Here are previous MVCfans.com results (predicted / actual):
2010-11: Wichita State / Missouri State
2011-12: Creighton / Wichita State
2012-13: Creighton / Creighton

I think the battle for the bottom will be fierce, with the huge turn over at Ilst., the loss of some important players and a new coach/system to put in place at DU, and the still woefully under talented (IMHO) SIU.
Very tough call it seems from what I can see. SIU is the easy guess, but I'm making a bet that the change over at DU makes them more likely to take the bottom this year, (though a rapid upswing is in store), but they've got serious competition with the other two, and frankly it could end up in a tie. Perhaps I'm respecting Barry's coaching talent too much, but then as a Shocker that SIU bunch has shown that it can be pretty salty when they are up against a good team, at least last season against us.

SIU will be better - not great I know - but better. I think Drake and Evansville will be much worse and Illinois St takes a step back too. I'm guessing 7-11 and 8th place for us.

I know you return a very fine scorer, and Beane is nice. What new players are you counting on?

Ya'll are crazy! SIU will NOT be last when it is all said and done. Barry is a great coach and D.Jackson is a bad man. They don't have any post play but they will finish 7-9 this year. ISUR or Drake is the pick here.
