Lindy's Sports 2013-14 Preview

Picked up a copy of Lindy’s College Basketball 2013-14 Preview magazine. There were no real surpises for the MVC.

Conference Champion: Wichita State
NCAA Trounament Team: Wichita State
Player of the Year: Cleanthony Early
Predicted Finish: 1. Wichita State, 2. Indiana State, 3. Northern Iowa, 4. Missouri State, 5. Bradley, 6. Loyola, 7. Illinois State, 8. Drake, 9. Evansville, and 10. Southern Illinois

Lindy’s now lists the MVC in the “Mid-Major/Minor” category of basketball conferences whereas for the past several years it was listed among the “Major” conferences. They rate the MVC as the 11th best basketball conference for the 2013-14 season.

For our former conference member to the North, now a member of the Big East:

Conference Champion: Creighton
NCAA Tournament Teams: Butler, Creighton, Georgetown, Marquette, St. John’s and Villanova
Player of the Year: Doug McDermott

Lindy’s lists the Big East (new) as the 3rd best basketball conference behind the ACC and Big 10.

Loyola picked for 6th...sounds about right to me. That's where I have leaned for a while now. That said, a bounce here and a bounce there, and I can see LU leap-frogging Bradley and MSU.

We shall see what happens. Either way, I'm glad basketball is right around the corner.

I can't see LU getting higher than 6th.

I see AT LEAST 5 losses to ISUb, UNI, and WSU...

That would mean LU would have to go 9-3 against the rest of the conference to finish 4th or 5th based on previous years. I don't know that I see that happening

It seems to me that 4th place traditionally hovers around the .500 mark (some years 2 games up, some years 2 games down, some right on the mark).

I am hopeful that we will end the season right in that sweet spot. Again, a bounce here and a bounce there will be the difference.

Absolutely. I can see LU finishing as high as 4th and as low as 9th. Anything can happen. I'm choosing to be optimistic for once (LU are notoriously pessimistic...you'd be too have the past two decades...)

Drake and SIU are good for f****** someone season up...it's what they do.

MSU is a wild card

Evansville and Il St are likely pretty bad

Bradley could be decent.

1-1 against Drake, Evansville, Illinois State, MSU
2-0 SIU

ish.

I see 6-7 wins for them.
