Mid-Major Madness MVC Preview

Postby Sir Sci » September 26th, 2013, 9:20 pm

Hello Ladies and Gents, I'm not a regular here or anything, I just stop by every once and a while. Because part of the job is promoting the blog, I'd like to leave you guys with Mid-Major Madness's MVC preview for this season, written by yours truly.

2013-14 Mid-Major Preview: Missouri Valley Conference

Of course, I don't expect everyone to agree, but I tried to make some fair minded predictions and analysis of the teams moving into the 2013-14 season. Of course, if you're not a member of MMM or SB Nation, come check us out.

Sir Sci, the link you posted is broken.

For those of wanting to get to the article, it's showing up on the front page of the website @ http://www.midmajormadness.com/

From an ISU perspective, It's an OK review. Did not mention John Jones who might be our best post player but you probably wouldn't know about him googling websites. Kaza probably would have been worth a mention as well. The rest seems pretty accurate though.

Here's a link that should work

http://www.midmajormadness.com/college-basketball-season-preview-2012-2013/2013/9/25/4768712/mid-major-preview-missouri-valley-conference

From a Drake perspective, I like that the writer recognized the potential of Daddy Ugbede, but I think completely missed the boat regarding Drake's newcomers.

Out of principle, I don't read anything that has the title mid major in it.

Nope. I cheer for a major program that happens to play in a mid major conference.

Our coach's salary is probably comparable to a large chunk of the coaching salaries in the Valley combined.

It depends on what you define "mid-major" as. We have the resources of a major program. The success of a major program. We get picked up by ESPN for non-conference games as if we were a major program. There's a huge gap between programs like WSU, Saint Louis, VCU, etc., and the other programs covered under the "mid-major" label.

If you define it as by conferences, sure, we're mid-major and TCU is major.

I do during the non-con portion of the schedule - I cheer for all Valley schools in non-con games. Once the conference season starts, I do not cheer for mid-majors teams in the Valley. I cheer for the one major that's in the Valley.
