When is media day?

Postby KCfan » October 16th, 2013, 6:53 am

There has been a lot of publicity today with several of the major basketball leagues having their conference media days. The valley gets so little pub I wonder if we would be smart to piggyback on these other leagues and do it today too?

And get lost in the 24// coverage of the ACC, and whoever else is having their day today?

There is less of a chance of any coverage of our media day today than there is in 2 weeks.

I'm glad Elgin is having a media day this year. It was unbelievable that he didn't last year.
"When you lose a program like Creighton, there's no sugarcoating it," Elgin said. "It's a devastating loss. They're going to go on and have success in the league they've joined..." Jeff Eisenberg, Yahoo Sports, October 10, 2013.

Jaypak stole a bit of my thunder ---

I was going to say, "At least there is a media day this year. Last year they cancelled it because some schools complained about the cost of attending."

I guess now that it is in Chicago, it isn't as expensive for those schools that complained.

The conference pays for travel, and always has. As usual, you are wrong, and have manufactured a story to stroke your superiority complex.

So, why didn't they have one last year?

I thought it was two years ago that they only had an"online" media day. Reports were that the coaches really didn't like attending, some media didn't want to or weren't planning to attend, and they used the idea that pulling players out of school to go didn't make sense. I was really displeased that they didn't hold a formal media day and I recall there were a couple of others (Todd Golden comes to mind) who took the Valley to task for it.

I recall Marshall this year saying one of many positives about having the extra two weeks of schedule for same amount of practices was it allowed him flexibility to do things like media day without squeezing in some odd time practice to make it work.

Maybe the coaches didn't like it due to time constraints. With the new NCAA rule extending the practice schedule out two weeks but allowing same amount of practices it is now no problem for the coaches and thats why they decided to hold one in person again.

Thats just me guessing though.
