WSU's Early named Preseason All=American

I know I'll get jumped on by Shocker fans for this, but it is kind of a stretch to say he is named Pre-Season All-American when he is only listed in "Others receiving votes" It kind of opens up Creighton fans to start saying they are a pre-season top-25 team.

It is certainly an honor to be mentioned and they should be touting him. But I would say something more along the lines of "Early is listed among All-American candidates" or the like. I know he is on secondary lists as well and they should play those up. They don't need to play political word-games like this, makes them sound like the White House.

Yeah. Kindof a weird deal in the preseason. I've seen several non-WSU publications refer to the "others receiving votes" section as "Honorable Mention Pre-Season AA", which probably sounds about right. Either way, it's a good spot to be. And I don't see it as that much of a stretch when considering Mitch McGary is on the pre-season AA list.

He is preseason honorable mention All American...says it in the article.

The 'article' is a press release from the WSU AD/SID.

edit: the 'article' headline does note the HM at the end, which the title of this thread does not

Like I said, figured some Shocker fans would jump on me for saying anything but whatever. Early is clearly the front-runner for player of the year in the Valley and probably the best NBA prospect the conference has had in years. Anyway it is good pub, just wish it was portrayed for what it is and not tried to be played up for more than that.

I'd prefer a player actually be on a first or second AA team before saying they are an AA.

If we're getting nitpicky about thread titles, how bout JayPak's "National Respect For Valley" thread title that leads to a picture of Doug McDermott and a promotional piece for Fox Sports and the "Formerly Big" East? talk about a misleading thread title!

This is another example as to why this site is practically painful to visit.

Who cares if he is pre-season anything? Yet another projection of something that hasn't happened. I know I will see some who say it's good pub, etc. True enough, but certainly not worth trying to defend...then again certainly not worth attacking either.

I'm ready for the season to start. Granted the conversations on this site will remain no bueno.

At least Early is in the conversation. I for one don't care whether it is 1st, 2nd, or HM he has done enough on the court to warrant being in the conversation. He is the most talented player in the league and glad he is being recognized.

There are plenty of conferences and fan bases who wish they had a player who was sniffing AA status, preseason or not.
