UNI @ Ohio

UNI opens the season with a tough one on the road this Saturday at Ohio (1 PM central). Ohio should be a very good team this year, as they start 3 SRs and 2 JRs after coming off of two really good years including a S16 run two years ago.

A lot of question marks for UNI yet as far as rotations, playing time, and overall style of play, so I it will be interesting to see this team play meaningful games as we start this season to see if they can answer some of these questions in a positive way.

Starters for UNI will be; Mitchell, Bohannon, Wasphun, Tuttle, and Friedman.

Big, big game. If the Valley is going to get 2 teams into the tourney, we have to have wins like this against other teams that could be on the bubble come March.

We'll know a lot more about UNI after this game. The key for me is how well the two true freshmen (Friedman and Morgan) play. If they can be effective, UNI has the chance to be really, really good. If there is a big learning curve, especially for Friedman, it could be a rough non-con.

I just get a feeling that this UNI team could be better than people expect them to be, really remind me of the 2008-09 team that came out of nowhere. This team has the same feel.

I'll take UNI in this one in a bit of an upset.

Friedman has to be REALLY good, ala Tuttle's freshman campaign. If he gets abused, or anything close to it, there is just no one there to fill the void defensively.

Panthers down 39-32 at half against Ohio. Bobcats came out swinging and were up by as much as 11 before UNI turned on the D. Got it as close as 28-27 before Ohio made a small run to build the lead before half.

I saw where Morgan started (along with Rank) and Friedman and Bohannon came off the bench. Looks like the 8 man rotation is set.
