WSU vs. BYU (ESPN2 9:00pm)

SIU vs. Stetson (1:30pm)

4-0 would be incredible. This is one of those odd days where all outcomes really wouldn't be that big a surprise. Even down a couple guys, MSU is most likely to win. WSU should win, but BYU is a high quality team in the top 40 for sure, maybe higher. SIU is always going to have their hands full and we get our first real test for UE.

Do we have any updates on Marshall and Pickens?

A UE win would be huge and give the MVC's Indiana schools bragging rights over the BcS schools from their state sans Purdue, looking forward to seeing what the Aces can do against their first stiff test. Well, to be fair, some of their earlier opponents have been stiffs, too. But in a completely different way.

I expect Wichita State to beat BYU, which will be another nice feather and BYU is probably overall a better team than Texas but some of the residuals that you would have gotten in RPI from Texas might have been better.

Missouri State should be able to beat Liberty at home, but if they are down both players it could be more of a struggle. Hopefully one or both of them are able to be back if not tonight, then soon.

Southern Illinois finds itself with a Stetson team that may be as bad as any in the country. (Seriously, the Hatters?) This needs to be a win. I won't call it a must because no one is really expecting much from SIU this year, but this is a game where a loss will really hurt and a win will only slightly hurt as far as RPI.

Conference is sitting at #5 in RPI right now with 7 teams in the top 100. It is still really early but it would be nice to stay with something like that. A strong day today will help.

As it relates to Pickins and Marshall, the local news is reporting that neither injury is season-ending and both should be back by Valley play or earlier. whew!
