There is no difference between basketball and life. Give both your best and ignore the "fans" on the sideline.

Screw KU and Billie boy. SHOULD they play? Yes, would be a great spotlight game in Kansas. Am I losing sleep over the fact they won't play? He'll no! The SHOX are doing just fine without them. There are plenty of other coaches with bigger ball sacks willing to play. Stick with those! Just keep winning and it all takes care of itself.

So, Self thinks we don't know how scheduling works. I'm sure it happens on occasion but head coaches rarely do the scheduling. That's left to an assistant, DOBO or someone in the athletic department. Just because Marshall hasn't called Self asking for a game, doesn't mean the guy who does most of our schedule work (Assistant AD Darren Boatright) hasn't called KU's people.

Self is now just trying to save face and attempt to make Marshall look like a liar.

If Self doesn't want to play WSU because he's afraid of them, that's fine, just man up and admit it. But don't dish out the 'best interests of our program' hogwash. It would serve Kansas much better to play WSU than Louisiana-Monroe or Towson, and frankly the game would be more meaningful to even KU fans and the state than their playing teams like Colorado or New Mexico. Kansas is Kansas, no matter what WSU, Kansas State or anyone else does, KU will always be one of the premier programs in the country. He comes across as so insecure that he's afraid a loss to the Shockers will send the program into an unprecedented downward spiral.

Also regarding another comment in the article, think Wichita State right now is a little more than just 'one of the better midmajor programs in the country,' like it's Iona or Weber State or something.

LU stands in your corner, WSU. Screw these "big boys" that don't want to play fair. Also, screw the wannabe big boys that don't want to play fair.

I get so sick of hearing that crap from KU and MU both. Playing their in state rivals (WSU MSU) would do wonders to promote the game and generate excitement and interest throughout both states. They know that and don't care. Both programs are spineless and just interested in protecting their little piece of the pie.
