UE @ Drake 1/1/14

Postby Aces1982 » December 29th, 2013, 8:15 pm

The second part of the regular season is about to start. The first "season" didn't end as well as UE had hoped and as well as it started. After starting 5-0 and putting up some incredible, unattainable numbers fans starting being much more optimistic. Some UE fans understood the huge obstacle this team would face this year with losing Colt. Some, blindly saw a different season unfolding. Those fans were eager to point at the 5-0 start. As it unfolded and reality soon set in and UE finished up 7-6.

The truth is UE doesn't reload and can't reload. They try to have build up for a season that they can compete in the top 3 or 4 of the conference. That year was last year. So now it is back to the drawing board. UE with their Freshman and Sophomores would do good to break even this year, .500. That would be a good start. Then improve from there each season and hoping in 2 years that this team can again compete for a top 3/4 spot. That is what it is. That is what UE has became. Maybe with a better then expected year and a conference championship then things can be looked at differently on but for the time being....it is what it is.

With that said, can UE go on the road and upend a surprising Drake team? Can this be the year of a better then expected season that can turn around the UE outlook?

New Years Day, UE @ Drake......

Kentucky we ain't. A bunch of sophomores and freshmen aren't going to challenge for the league championship. Maybe like last year we can knock off a few teams that take us too lightly. We will beat some teams at home, but on the road, not so much.

Hoping Drake takes care of business. I'll be cheering for Drake, SWOMO, Indy State, and UNI to take care of business during the conference season. Would hate to lose potential Top 100 wins.

Drake's had a nice start that no Drake fan/alum will complain about, although it's fair to say that they haven't really beaten anyone yet (Omaha, Fresno, Albany, and Western Michigan were all nice wins). Evansville isn't getting a lot of love from the computers, but they are still a Valley opponent.

Hoping for an Aces upset to start the conference, but will be surprised if they can pull it out on the road against a good Drake team. Go Aces!!

UE seems to always have trouble against Drake.

Yep. At this point I'm a fan of every one of those top 100 RPI teams. I want Evansville, Loyola, SIU, and Bradley to lose every game they play against anyone outside of that four. Bad for the conference if they play as terrible as they did in the nonconference and then knock off a good team. Just keep sucking.

Don't forget about Illinois State, if nothing else, just because they're Illinois State.

Well, I always want Illinois State to lose. But that doesn't have anything to do with what's best for the conference. At least I want the other four to lose to help the conference ;)
