Sycamores vs. Drake 1/8/13 8:05pm EST

The Sycamores (11-3) (2-0 MVC) take on the Drake Bulldogs (10-4) (1-1 MVC) at the Knapp Center in Des Moines, Iowa tonight at 8:05pm EST. This will be a tough game for the Sycamores, Drake is coming off a loss to Bradley and the Sycamores have not played well at the Knapp Center, going 2-5 in their past 7 trips to Des Moines. If the Sycamores shoot well like they have most of the season and play solid defense I think we squeak out with a win. My pick is Sycamores by 5. Thoughts? Predictions?

Huge game for both teams.

As much as I like Coach Giac, I am pulling for the Trees in this one. The Bulldogs showed that they will have a tough time separating from the pack when they got destroyed in Peoria, leaving ISUb as the league's best hope for a breakaway candidate besides WSU.

The Trees have about a 1 in 3 shot at finishing in RPI Top 50 heading into this game per RPI Forecast. That would go up quite a bit with a win tonight.

thanks for not saying ISU in a route, whenever you did in the past it was the kiss of death. Will be a close game I think. Just need to keep shooting at a high %age and hit FT's tonight! FT shooting was dreadful at UE

Got Drake by 5 in a bounce back game. They play better ball at home. ISUB is a solid team, but im not sure their good enough to win road games against the upper half of the league. IF they can do that starting tonight, then your looking at a clear number 2 in the league.

This is a separation game in my opinion. If the Sycamore's can come out with a W, they get a bump from most likely to finish second to likely to finish second in the league. Any road win at Wichita or at Terre Haute will be rare, but those teams that can win in Cedar Falls, Des Moines, or Springfield are likely to be contenders at year's end.

Agree. If Drake can play as they did against the Aces, they will win this game, but then we are talking about the Aces, who can't play on the road, and seldom play well against Drake.

Important game for Drake. They played, by far, their worst game of the season Saturday at Bradley. I hope they come back strong tonight, because the schedule doesn't get any easier with a trip to Cedar Falls on Saturday.

Kiss of death? Not sure if you have me confused with another board member? I've made two predictions thus far this season. First being the game against Loyola, my prediction was Sycamores 15+, final score Sycamores by 12. The second prediction being against Evansville, my prediction Sycamores by 10, final score Sycamores by 19. Not sure how that in any way is a kiss of death but okay....sorry for a bit of optimism...
