Interesting All-Time Valley Stats

I can't take the credit for this research. A poster named SHOCKValue did the work and posted it on ShockerNet. It's how often a team has been rated in the AP poll.

School - Total Appearances - Percentage of AP Polls Ranked - Average Rank - High Rank

MVC

Bradley - 128 - 11.9% - 7.9 - 1
WSU - 99 - 9.2% -11.4 - 1
Loyola - 49 - 4.5% - 6.4 - 1
Drake - 32 - 3.0% - 14.6 - 7
ISUb - 22 - 2.0% - 6.5 - 1
SIU - 17 - 1.6% - 18.0 - 11
ISUr - 11 - 1.0% - 17.1 - 13
UNI - 7 - 0.6% - 23.3 - 19
MSU - 1 - 0.1% - 20.0 - 20
Evansville - Goose Eggs

It is interesting...3 of the top 4 schools are perennial bottom feeders nowadays.

History doesn't matter. Can you re-cast the numbers since the MVC was founded in 1990?

I find it shocking that UNI only has 7 weeks in the poll, moreso that MSU has 1.

Kinda illustrates how the only history that matters in sports is the very recent history. It's been 5 years since one of those 3 even sniffed the rankings.

Good point. That's exactly what I have been saying---not sure even 5 year old history is pertinent. Nice to talk about but the old days ????????(Cincy, Louisville, Memphis, etc-but meaningless), especially when there were two dominant teams and a bunch of tag alongs during that last 5 year period.

For someone who hates history you sure won't shut the hell up about NAIA/MIAA in the 50s.

Play Angry---KISS OFF!!!. Did not say anything about MIAA or NAIA. Where were you in the 50s, 60s and early 70s. If you were even around in those days bet you were either at a DII or NAIA school (as where all of the current MVC schools)---maybe even at a junior college. If at a Kansas JR College in those days, even today---you could have been/be in a quality BB program. Lots of JuCO National BB Champs in Southern Kansas (Dodge, Garden City, Great Bend, +++), and still sending lots of players to quality D1 and DII BB programs. But, doubt if you know that being that you are fixated on the MVC, and only the MVC. I know some BB history---don't think you do. Quick, spit some RPI/SOS BS at me!

Trying to converse with some on this forum is like trying to converse with a bunch of sophomores---who can't write a full sentence---much less a paragraph. Either one liners, name calling, or age aspersion. KA, If you don't have a dictionary I can include the definition of aspersion for you. Guess it is because of the fascination with texting with the younger generations.

Then just leave. No one is forcing you to read, post or believe anything on this site. You have 0 obligation to respond to anything here and yet you come back and act childish. Fairly ironic for someone who is trying to belittle the perceived maturity of others.

Are we going to have any constructive discussion in this thread?

For as good as UNI has been the trends have gotten very very little national respect from voters. Talking heads, yes...voters no.

Remember the UNI team that made the S16 finished the regular season 25-3 and left StL 28-3 with a 15ish game win streak during the season....and got a 9 seed.
