Big RAMBLER Win

Postby Brot4britu » November 29th, 2014, 10:16 pm

The boys from the North Side of Chicago hung one on the MAC's Kent St in Akron this night--Great all around play by Milton Doyle and his gang !! Ramblers played the best half in years AWAY from Gentile no less.
This bunch is SMALL--I mean tiny, but they appear to have meshed --Porter Moser looks vastly improved as does this gang of hustlers. They may NOT be the patsies in the Valley this year--

Congrats on a very nice win. You guys have a long string of winnable games ahead on the schedule- go rack up those dubs.

Glad to see the Ramblers succeeding! Doyle is special, and you need to cash in while he's there.

Congratulations! That's a big win and might be the best non-WSU/UNI win of the nonconference schedule for any Valley team.

Keep it going.

I don't know what Kent St has this year, but last year they were 5th (out of 6) in their division of the MAC with an rpi of 212

If winning a road game against a team with that type of credentials is the best the Valley has done (other than UNI and WSU), then the Valley is hurting - badly.

Kent State averaged over 20 wins per season for 15 years. They are projected to be a good team this year.

Here's the competition right now, with last year's RPIs, this year's record, and current RPI (take it with a grain of salt, obviously):

Miami-Ohio 161, 2-4 #265
Fresno State 117, 1-5 #349
San Francisco 68, 3-2 #128
Weber State 149, 2-3 #134
Old Dominion 170, 5-1 #7
Kent State 215, 4-2 #121

Plenty of time for it to change, but right now it'd be Old Dominion, San Francisco, Kent State. Also, last year was the first time Kent State has been outside of the top 150 RPI since at least 2003 ... and only the second time they were outside of the top 100. Kent State is almost always a very good win, last year as the exception.

We'll have to see how Old Dominion's season turns out. Right now they're running away with the "honor."
