I am not sure who needs who. The same reason you are throwing shade on the conferences supposedly below us is exactly the same reason I am sure the MWC doesn't want to continue this. Bids are fragile, and why would the MWC, A10 or AAC want to risk losing bids to a conference that is perceived to be lower? Personally, I think we would mop up a lot of A10 programs, but the perception is they are better, and such, get multiple bids. I can't see them wanting a challenge. There is nothing to gain for them.
The fact MWC schools are coming in and poaching our coaches (Medved and Ragland) for lateral moves certainly doesn't help the perceptions.
Until the rules and tournament is changed, we aren't going to out game the game, and you certainly can't expect the other hungry mouths who are fighting for the same crumbs we are to become our allies. It's up to the schools in this conferences to do what it takes to increase our bid chances, and no one else. Keeping our coaches from being raided for lateral moves would be a good first step.
