Both 6'1 guard Tyrik Dixon a transfer from Middle Tennessee St. and Tulio Da Silva a 6'8 forward from South Florida have been granted immediate eligibility for the Bears. No word on Jared Ridder or Josh Hall; I'm assuming Hall is a definite no and Ridder will either be immediate or have to wait till end of 1st semester. While Ridder is the more impactful, Dixon and Da Silva help immediately with depth and talent. Da Silva averaged 10 ppg and 7rbs as a freshman at SFU , then after a coaching change 8ppg and 6 rbs before leaving last year. He should now have 2 full years at MSU as he sat out a year at FSU , then played most of 2 years. With not having to sit this year. he can still meet the 4 in 5 criteria. Dixon is not a high impact scoring addition, but was the starting pg for most of his two years at MTSU on an NCAA and an NIT team. He's a tough defender, good playmaker, and gives the Bears solid depth at pg with grad transfer Josh Webster which allows Jarred Dixon to play mostly off ball. Da Silva could result in perhaps J. Wojcik getting a rs year, but that has not been mentioned, I'm just speculating. Would love to get Ridder before break, but either way, by conference, this could be a very deep team now.

Well nix all the above : Ridder will be eligible after 12/15, so basically for the two weakest teams on our noncon, and then conference. At least he gets those two to get acclimated a bit. The failure of dixon gettinga waiver leaves us precariously thin at guard.

So, the NCAA grants waivers for players who have a coaching change? It's about time...

Doug Gottlieb just tweeted, "College Hoops News- most transfers have applied for waiver due to NCAA doing a 180 and allowing waivers over the last month. Don’t be surprised if a bunch or mid-season transfers are eligible in the next week or two."

Maybe other schools will have similar luck and have D1 transfers available that they did not anticipate to have.

This is great news! Good to see our depth being built up a little before starting the year.

I know Drake tried to get a waiver for a transfer who left previous school due to abusive head coach. Bulldogs were turned down. However, they have appealed and it's still possible they'll get the waiver.

Still waiting on official word from Missouri State or the NCAA before I celebrate the decision. A little added depth this season would be awesome.

Yeah the guy first reporting it is pretty reliable, but there has been no follow-up verification as yet.

I didn't see who originally posted it. Just saw it on Twitter and the other boards. Hoping it is the truth.
