This helps Power 5 teams, if you look at most upsets in NCAA history it has been done with the 3 point shot, now over time players will adjust and it will become less of an issue, but power 5 teams with their larger more athletic players will have an advantage from this.

Who does this hurt? Some of the more exciting teams like Saint Mary’s, Belmont, IONA, etc.

But as a league who’s ranked 1st in defense and 32nd in offense in prior years, this could play right in the Valley’s hands.

This might actually help Valpo. We've recruited some international players that are already used to shooting at this distance.

Genuine question, why is a 24 second shot clock so much better than 30? I never really understood that. I get that you will have more possessions in a game and theoretically more points but with less time to score, I would expect quality of shot to go down as well as shooting percentages. It just forces a faster pace. Teams now waste 6-8 seconds walking the damn ball up the court. It's a full cout game. A 24 second shot clock helps make it more of that.

The quality of shots wouldn't go down. Maybe at first because of the adjustment but once teams and, more importantly, coaches, adjust the quality of shots would equalize.

And the best shots don't come late in the shot clock anyway. They come early. The shots now from five down on the shot clock aren't near as good as ones early in the clock - generally speaking.

Bottom line for me - its a full court, fact paced game with great athletes. Let's let the athletes play it that way and have less coaches controlling every single movement on the court.
