Usually, you can tell what the league is thinking about how the year is going to go with the matchups for the last Saturday. This year, I'm not so sure...

UNI at Drake
Loyola at Bradley
Valpo at Indiana State
Southern Illinois at Missouri State
Illinois State at Evansville

Good point. I think this shows they expect Loyola and Bradley to be fighting for the title. Everything else (really that one too) seems proximity.

I'd guess at this point Valpo, INST, and SIU would be solidified in the Thursday night game and ILST, Mo State, and UE are around 9-9 and trying to play out of it, kind of like last year.

A soldout WSU@MSU in 2011 generated a lot of hype and was a great showcase for the league. With potentially the Bears’ best team since then, it’s surprising the MVC wouldn’t try to recreate that magic and schedule in hopes of another winner-take-all finale in Springfield.

Who knows, Drake/UNI or Loyola/Bradley could end up that matchup, but sending one of those 4 to JQH seems like the better bet.

The league must think the 4 top teams are Drake, UNI, Bradley and Loyola.

Interesting that the Bears aren't going somewhere more interesting the last day.

A sold out Carver arena against Loyola on the final day with a chance to win the conference would bring an atmosphere that Peoria hasn't seen in over a decade.

The nice thing about the round robin is that strength of schedule is the same across conference play, but jeez Missouri State has a tough beginning to conference play:

After opening conference play at home against Evansville, two away games at Loyola and Illinois State, then UNI and Bradley at home. If the Bears win early in the conference games it'll be a huge deal in trying to win the conference, but if they lose early then it won't be all too surprising and they'll need to look at trying to make a later season surge to be competitive for Arch Madness.

Only to have their hopes dashed when Cam Krutwig puts up 25 points and 13 rebounds, Lucas Williamson goes 4-5 from long range and has 6 steals, and freshman Marquise Kennedy caps off his FOY campaign by contributing 15 points (including 2 monstrous dunks), 8 rebounds and 4 steals.

(Sorry--just getting a little stir crazy thinking about the upcoming season...)

Last time these two teams played, there was only one person who got a double double...and it wasn't Cameron Krutwig.

I remember a game in the late 70's or early 80's end of the season, Drake versus Bradley. Full house in Des Moines Vet's Auditorium, probably at least 9k to 10,000 people. This was a play in game to continue in the conference tournament. Be great to have those kind of crowds again through out the conference.
