SIU vs MN State

Postby Dawgbit » October 23rd, 2019, 10:21 am

The Dawgs played their first (exhibition) game under Bryan Mullins last night. They played Minnesota State, a D2 team picked to win their conference, who last year lost in the tournament to the eventual winner of the tournament, in other words, not your usual D2 cupcake. Freshman Marcus Domask, the Wisconsin Player of the Year his senior year, was player of the game with 17 points and 10 rebounds. Things are already looking up in the Dale!

I agreed with all of this until the last sentence. Sure, Minnesota State doesn't suck and it's nice that you've got a promising freshman, but let's wait until you get a win against a Division 1 school before we take Southern out of Thursday.

Don't get me wrong, I like Southern and think they have some promising pieces, but we've got a ways to go.

I didn’t mention Thursday, I said quite simply said things are looking up, which I would have also been correct in saying the glorious day that BBQ Barry resigned.

Let’s keep perspective. Ambushing the guy with “you suck!” chants and insults in front of his family while he cries and gives a heartfelt apology for not making the Tournament at his resignation speech isn’t what we’d call a “glorious day”.

Sorry, that’s not going unchecked here.

Congrats to the Salukis on a good start.

I mean we could lose every game and it would still be a positive season now that the bbq master is gone. We finally have a smart basketball coach.

He also told Saluki fans to stay home, berated players on national television, got Tommy bell fired and called people who didn’t like him Cheeto eating basement dwellers. It’s not like the bbq general was innocent.
