Way too early, knee-jerk re-ranking

I won't complain too loudly about this ranking! ACES ACES

Loyola has a 3 or 4 guys who were projected to be decent contributors on the sidelines hurt, so it's not a huge surprise they have started the season like an Oldsmobile diesel on a cold Chicago day.

However I am a little curious about Indiana State being ranked last. My first reaction would be to bump Indiana State up a couple and Valpo down a couple.

It's true Indiana State has played two tough teams. Valpo has exceed expectations. ISUr may ne too high. Loyola may move way up when everyone is healthy. Missouri State may get it together but it doesn't look promising in Springfield.

My knee-jerk to your knee-jerk is the you’ve got ISUr and UE too high. Hard to tell this early, though.

UE had a very special game last week against #1 Kentucky. It’s hard to know what that means. In 15-16, UNI beat #1 UNC (h) and #5 IA state (n) and then went 11-7 in the valley.

I have watched one ISUr game (vs Little Rock). Interesting style with both teams wanting everything fast. Frenetic.

Also, have to wonder if my Panthers belong that high. Maybe. Big tests against WVU and Colorado are a couple weeks away. Our two “best outside shooters” (AJ Green and Spencer Haldeman) are so far not shooting very well (combined 11-48 from 3). IF they start hitting, UNI will do very well and belongs near or at the top.

Drake is too low. Can't penalize them that much for losing to a really good Cincy team.

Loyola vs. St. Joe's will be a good bellwether. St. Joe's squeaked by Bradley in Philly. Loyola should take care of business in Chicago if they are a top 4 team.

Valpo is a Thursday team if Fazekas is out long-term.

Missouri St. is figuring things out with all the new faces. They'll be a top 3 team once conference play starts.

Illinois St. had a great win over Belmont and a decent UALR team. Top 3 seems too high though after just two games. If they beat UCF then I can't argue.
