EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WFIE) - The University of Evansville has placed men’s basketball coach Walter McCarty on administrative leave pending an investigation into alleged violations of the University’s Title IX policy.

UE says it has received reports about McCarty’s off-court behavior, including a recent incident that appeared to violate its Title IX policy.

At this time, the UE says they do not intend to publicly discuss or disclose any specific details related to the investigation.

Bennie Seltzer will serve as interim head coach of the Men’s Basketball team.

Seltzer previously served as head coach of Samford University and held assistant coaching positions at the University of Oklahoma, Marquette University, Indiana University and Washington State University.

The investigation will be conducted by a national law firm.

Well, bye.

At least Marty didn't destroy your program and leave a wake of legal issues behind when he left.

Wasn’t there a tweet summer of ‘18 about McCarty’s drunkenness at bars but no one took it seriously? Maybe that had legs after all?

Mark Spencer is a terrific AD so UE is in good hands.

Not having Lickliter hurts bad right now.

Sounds like he couldn't keep it in his pants and it wasn't the first time. For a program as doormat as UE to do this with a local guy who had the program turning upward? He had to of stepped over the line multiple times and gave them no choice.

I'd rather have Graves than Lick. He's got to be at the top of the list of replacements, if it comes to that.

Too bad. If that’s been brewing it might partially explain the up and down OOC season.

If so, another aspect of the NBA culture that doesn't translate well to the collegiate arena. Always hope for the best, but once it gets to "administrative leave" which is a nice phrase for suspended, it usually doesn't go well. MSU's Volleyball coach who had been very successful went on "leave" then resigned just prior to this season.

It's hard to say because it's a different game now than it was 12 15 20 years ago and his tenure at Iowa was nothing short of a disaster and his time at Marian was okay but not exactly inspiring but I would take a guy with his resume (2 Sweet 16s and a National Coach of the Year) in a heartbeat if I'm trying to revive a program especially if my other option is a guy who was 23 games under .500 with a Sun Belt team. He took Butler out of the doldrums if the administration and city of Evansville are behind making the Purple Aces a winner I think he would be one of their best available chances at making it happen.
