It's great isn't it! You return to your hometown to coach the storied college basketball program. You vow to bring it back to glory days; to fill the stadium again. Instead you let down your hometown, the university and the kids who looked up to you. Now, you leave us to rebuild once again. What a sad day in Evansville.

He was absolutely fired. There is a letter from the president posted on our board.

Inexcusable.

What a season. We beat #1 UK at Rupp and had such high hopes. A couple months later, we are winless in the Valley and McCarty is fired. It’s hard to imagine a higher high or lower low - and in the same season.

If done right this can be good for the Aces. The hire was a joke from the beginning. Get a real candidate now.

I will be honest with you. I have been a McCarty supporter. I put all of my hope in him. But it is been a mess. Hurley was signed but couldn't get in school. Becker quit before the season last year. The D3 transfer was kicked out midway last season for not going to class. The team at the beginning of this year was a mess. 2 of the 3 star transfers didn't start. The 3rd is not even good enough to play with our big man being out. What have they been working on the past 2 years? Shooting? Not really. Defense? No. Continuity? No again. Have we seen improvement in many of the players? I haven't. Many of them are putting up numbers that are worse than prior years. We have 6 juniors, including transfers and a red shirt, and a senior yet they play soft and with no confidence. I guess we now know where the coach was focusing his attention and it wasn't on helping these kids become better basketball players.

I feel bad for whoever takes over next. Low pay and no talent.

Source? If true, EXCELLENT HIRE! I don't think you could have done any better in this case! I'll try to look for the post but I think I kinda called this one. It just made too much sense. If Evansville is as committed to and driven towards becoming a successful program again as they appear to be this hire is going to work out fantastically!
