The NCAA D1 Men's Basketball Committee announced today it would move the host sites for March Madness. There are rumors that Indianapolis might get the whole tournament, which would make some sense. Indy was already slated to be the Final Four host, and is HQ for the NCAA.

Indy has good facilities for hosting a lot of basketball in a short period. There are 4 D1 or pro level facilities in the city itself that could all be used and host a modest crowd even with distancing restrictions.

  1. Bankers Life Fieldhouse (Pacers' home court)
  2. Indiana Farmers Coliseum (IUPUI home court)
  3. Hinkle Fieldhouse (Butler home court)
  4. Lucas Oil Stadium (Colts home field)

Dan Gavitt of the NCAA said 8 facilities would be ideal, so perhaps these collegiate arenas around central Indiana might be used for first round games: Assembly Hall at IU, Mackey Arena at Purdue, Hulman Center at ISU, and Worthen Arena at Ball State.
