Northern Iowa was impressive until the last 10 minutes or so. They’re going to be tough to beat if Born, Anderson, and Duax are all on.

Wish they’d change the “VIP seating” behind the teams’ benches. Murray has 3 sections of fans, yet the 6 rows behind the Racers’ bench are empty because of VIP seating.

UIC/MSU skipped through the U8 media timeout as there wasn’t a whistle until 2:40. You don’t see that often.

A couple "non-basketball" goodies from Day 1:

1. UIC had in my view point, the best intro video, best band, some of the best cheerleaders, a great mascot and a great uniform. If only their on-the-court performance matched all that. I think they're a better addition to the Valley than they've gotten credit for.

2. Speaking of bands, thanks to the UNI band for standing in for the Valpo band tonight. Great moment at that under 8 timeout in the Murray State/Valpo game tonight with the bands.

3. Most fans on day 1? I give it a tie between UNI and Murray State, though the Racer fans get the award for being louder as my Apple Watch triggered a loud noises alert during their game.
