Sources: Murray State coach Steve Prohm is stepping down and will not return next year. They have not finished higher than sixth in the Missouri Valley in his three seasons since returning to the school. They’ve had losing records in conference in the last two years.

Both happened around this exact time on the Friday Night of Arch Madness too.

Prohm still took them to a top-10 ranking, NCAA Tournament win, and hosting Dick Vitale in BracketBusters, so his legendary status is cemented there no matter what.

Hope Gregg and Lynn like the steaks in Murray.

Good guy, really liked him. Great coach at one time.
I'm sad he didn't work out, but this is 100% the right move.

Gregg would do very well at Murray. He's a 100% c*nt of a person, but I'm positive he'd build a winner.

Trust me, I wouldn't hire Gregg Marshall if my life depended on it, many ADs agree, and I do not want him in the MVC again. I hope Murray nails the hire. We all have seen what they can be when they have the right guy in charge.

Frontrunner right now is former Murray assistant and current Dayton assistant James Kane. Would be interesting if they go a Prohm assistant.

No he’s not, it’s a wide open national search and in fact prior head coaching experience will be a requirement. He will get a courtesy interview if he desires but we are going in a difference direction from prior searches.

Imagine the irony; Murray player got booted this season for stangling and breaking the nose of a cheerleader, and Marshall was canned for hitting players and choking an assistant! The proud tradition could continue! 8-)
