State of the State of Illinois Basketball

Postby 8ball » January 27th, 2011, 9:16 pm

A thread on the ShockerNet website gave me an idea for an article. I stacked up all 13 DI schools that play in Illinois, including three MVC schools, and did a brief analysis on each.

If you guys think the situation is bad in the Valley, it doesn't end there. Illinois is a mess when it comes to college hoops right now.

How in the hell does the state of Illinois have that many D1 programs? That's pretty amazing.

Not really that amazing. Iowa has four D1 programs. Illinois has 4-5 times the population that Iowa does, so 3 times as many D1 schools isn't a reach. Per capita, Iowa actually has more D1's than Illinois.

P-A-R-I-T-Y

Poor analysis: All emotion. Comparing Apples, to Oranges, to Cherries. But, a good read.
There is no difference between basketball and life. Give both your best and ignore the "fans" on the sideline.

Thanks AceDad -- is there anything about the article you disagree with? I just can't believe that the state I live in now has the worst collective college basketball scene in the country. With Illinois losing the other night to Indiana, the state has NO teams with a winning record in their respective conference.

Awful.
