I wonder if us playing Fresno st. is an attempted jab on their part at the WAC for not releasing them without a fine.

I commented on our board, but there is no mention of a return game the following season, so it would be interesting if this turns out to be a 1 and done that Jank refuses to do. We could possibly be doing them a favor. I'm actually surprised that SIU and Nevada didn't work out a game during that time.

There are no return games in the Challenge

It's not a part of the challenge since technically Fresno won't be in the MWC until the following year. I think it was deliberitely announced at the same time so Fresno could take a jab at the WAC for not releasing them. So I am going to be pretty upset if this is a one and done when we could get a better game somewhere else. Especially after all of the Jank talk about not doing one and dones.

In that case, it may be like our schedule with TCU. We signed a 1-1 with them before the Challenge. So their return game to Wichita was our first MWC/MVC matchup. It's possible that you're guaranteed a game with them in year 4 then.

For sitting out next year, we should be guaranteed a game in year 4 regardless. MVC teams cannot sit out two in a row. So it would still be a pretty bogus deal.

edit: just realized that in the 4th year no one will be left out since the addition of Fresno St. and Nevada will put the MWC at 10 members.

It would be interesting to know how the commissioners "predicted" the finish of their respective leagues for next year to get to these matchups.

Given that the MWC has been the superior conference for the last couple years, its not a bad tradeup. I don't know how they will be next year (I suspect worse), so the matchups look favorable for us.
