2011-12 Non-Con Schedules

Postby BirdmanBB » March 10th, 2011, 4:16 pm

I know it's early, but with all of this talk about teams not scheduling hard enough and the fact that it is keeping us out, I was wondering what everyones non-con schedules look like so far for next year. Ours looks to be improved (Thank God), but I would still like to see some more challenging teams on it next year. Maybe once everyone has contributed, we can compile one list for the conference and keep it updated.

Redbirds

vs. SIU-E (cancun challenge @ home) Nov. 14-19
vs. Lipscomb (cancun challenge @ home) Nov. 14-19
vs. Rutgers (in cancun) Nov. 22
vs. Richmond/Illinois (in cancun) Nov. 23
@ Fresno St. (replacing MWC challenge) Dec. 3rd
@ Morehead St. (return BB from 09-10)
vs. UALR (last part of 1 for 1)
vs. UNC-W (last part of 1 for 1)
vs. Bracketbuster (should be at home) Feb 17-19?
vs. Western Mich (this was the BB from this year so it could get pushed back a year)

-By my count this would leave us with 2-3 games left to schedule depending on the Western Mich. game. We don't play UIC this year so there has been some chatter about us possibly starting something up with Loyola. This feels like the first time ever we have not been completely in the dark about our non-con schedule. Jank and staff seem so secretive when it comes to it.

As it stands right now, it doesn't really look too bad for everyone. Plenty of games against "name" teams to prove yourself. It will be interesting to see what happens with BU's schedule. I still would like to see Jank get us something good towards the end of the non-con since our toughest games are so early.

I believe WSU will also have another home thriller against Chicago State :Bam: and most likely a game against UMKC. Not sure yet what our other three 250+RPI teams will be on our schedule yet but I'm sure they'll be thrilling...

http://www.basketballtravelers.com

-From this site, it looks like Evansville is looking for 2 home guarantee games Dec. 6th, 7th, 10th and 15-21.

-UNI is looking for a home guarantee game on either Nov. 15th or 16th and between December 17th and 22nd

-Also, it looks like there is an unknown valley team confirmed to play in a 5-team, 4 game round robin that includes Michigan St. a MAC, Horizon team and one more that they are currently looking for. (you get 1 home game and 3 road games *at least for the last team in). Nov. 15-26th so looking like either BU, E-Ville, In St., UNI or MSU could be participating in this.

Drake will play at Iowa, home with Iowa State. I believe Cal-Northridge owes the 'dogs a return game from Bracket Buster 2009-10. We've got Air Force at home for the MVC-MWC challenge, and a bracket buster game at home. I'm guessing that Eastern Michigan owes DU a return game in Des Moines this upcoming season, and DU probably owes a return game at Boise State.

Bulldogs also play in the Paradise Jam....teams include Marquette, Mississippi, Virginia, Drexel, Texas Christian, Drake, Norfolk State, and Winthrop.

Beyond that, I'm not sure who's on the schedule.

The Bulldogs will also play 5 games in Australia/New Zealand this August...obviously, these are games that don't count.
