Oh no ValleyChamp, with ISASO logic it works. This is the same guy that posted for days saying how irrelevant attendance was with Creighton soccer even though it is in the top 10 in the NCAA. But fans at WSU golf and tennis help the bottom line so it is relevant. Perfect ISASO logic.

Amen.

You can win 107 consecutive conference titles in those sports and you'll still be trying to get attendance greater than the friends and families of the participants.

That is why I don't think it has any impact on the success or failure of the sports that matter.

Blueblood, irrelevant happens when you don't charge admission. Maybe Creighton is charging admission to soccer now, and that's great, but I don't believe that was the case when we discussed it back then. You left that little nugget out of your comment today. How convenient.

Are you gents telling me that a winning program doesn't get more money donated to it than a losing program?

Are you further telling me that every penny brought into any given program via attendance or donations doesn't take some financial pressure off of the cash cow program(s)?

Do you think there is a correlation between the fact that WSU's athletic department runs in the black and the fact that WSU wins the All Sports trophy quite frequently?

I realize that, for the sake of your own pride, you are forced to answer 'No' to each of the above questions. And that's OK, we have grown accustom to it and will proceed with that in mind.

The only sport(s) that mean anything in the valley is:

1. Basketball
2. Basketball
3. Basketball
4. Baseball (most teams probably lose money here)
5. Soccer (even this is a stretch, even w/top 10 attendance for CU, we break even).
6. Every other sport means nothing when it comes to revenue.

I'll work on that, I am surprised WSU only offers 12 MVC sports, I thought for sure they'd offer more than anyone else. I think there are only 6 sports that field 10 teams:

men's BB (only men's sports that all 10 schools participate in)
women's BB
Volleyball
Softball
women's golf
women's cross country

Does WSU volleyball mean nothing to revenue? A program near the top in the nation means nothing in revenue? $200,000 in revenue is nothing?

The all-sports trophy is all about bragging rights. It basically points out who has the best overall athletic program in the conference.

No, not all the sports matter, but you know if you're volleyball team does well, or your women's basketball team does well, or your soccer team does well, or your wrestling team does well (well, that's not a Valley sport), you like to brag about it and more than likely you probably follow it.

An all-sports trophy provides pride and again demonstrates the best overall athletic program. Period.

What does that matter? Every dollar of revenue volleyball generates is one less dollar that men's basketball has to generate to cover for the volleyball program.

What if WSU's volleyball program only generated $10,000 in revenue instead of somewhere around $200,000?
What if WSU's volleyball program generated $1,000,000 in revenue instead of somewhere around $200,000?
What if WSU's baseball program lost one million dollars per year instead of breaking even frequently?

I am surprised about that too, since it's inaccurate.

Mens basketball
Womens basketball
Baseball
Softball
Volleyball
Mens Tennis
Womens Tennis
Mens Golf
Womens Golf
Mens Cross Country
Womens Cross Country
Mens Indoor Track
Womens Indoor Track
Mens Outdoor Track
Womens Outdoor Track

That's 15. I think the only sports in which WSU chooses not to compete are swimming and diving and mens and womens soccer which seem to be populated with teams not from the Valley. How many programs have swimming and diving?
