Chewy isn't going anywhere until, at least, his son graduates.

I wonder how this move by Turgeon to "The Big Time" at Maryland reflects on his tenure at WSU. What do Valleytalkers think about him now, in hindsight?

Did you see this coming?
What did he figure out at WSU that helped propel him "to this level" (Maryland)?
How will he do at Maryland?
What does this say about the WSU job?

Considering that Marshall has some ego and a fairly short fuse, imagine him being below the assistant outside nose tackle coach in the athletic department hierarchy. Yikes!!

I don't see this happening at all. Marshall has a pretty comfortable gig at WSU. If the last open scholly plays out the way it's expected to, he's got an unbelievable recruiting class coming in. Without much consideration of the recruiting class, WSU is getting mention as a top-25 team next year.

I'm sure Marshall remembers what he arrived to find after Turgeon left WSU. That probably makes him NEVER want to follow Turgeon to another job in his lifetime and beyond.

He's certainly not leaving the cupboard bare at TAMU though...

I agree that Marshall isn't going to TAMU; he's waiting for the So. Carolina job to open after next season.

He was certainly more successful at WSU than Marshall has been.

Marshall just finished year 4. In their first 4 years, Marshall wins the comparisons. In years 5-7, Turgeon got one NCAA bid. Marshall has a shot at matching that next year. Turgeon did get the S16, and that's going to be a tough one for Marshall to match.

Something just occurred to me. With the departure of Jim Les, is Marshall now the longest-term coach in the Valley?

Jacobson will be entering year 6 next year. And I think Jankovic will be entering year 5 just like Marshall.

What had Turgeon accomplished by 2005? An NIT loss to Vanderbilt and a 22-win season.

Actually, you are incorrect on both counts.

Coach Marshall would blend far better with Texas A&M custom and tradition than Coach Turgeon has blended.

Trust me, I don't know a lot, but I do know a lot about Texas A&M.
