I'm sure you are probably right regarding Egleseder. I probably have a skewed view of his abilities because he always seemed to kill the Bears. We just didn't have anyone to match up with him.

Egelseder, Miller, and Falker pretty much all had one good year. They were OK the rest of their careers, but each of them had one solid year. PO'B, the lottery pick, pretty much made his fame off of one good game and being 7' tall.

I think both Miller and Falker would have been ahead of Egelseder if they had played in the same years.

Neither Miller nor Falker faced anybody with Egelseder's width. That width would have affected how O was played against Egelseder. We can never know how that would have affected Miller or Falker, but I believe Falker's quickness and athleticism would have minimized Egelseder's D. Miller's ability to hit a step-back shot and a quickness advantage over Egelseder would seem to give Miller an advantage over Egelseder.

Actually Falker and Eglseder did face each other and you are correct, Eglseder's size caused all sorts of issues for Randall. There were times when he was able to use his quickness to get around him-and he did actually best him for rebounds-but Falker's favorite 'shoulder drop to clear space' usually ended with him recoiling backwards and shooting an off-balance shot trying to get it over Jordan. I do think Miller would have fared better against Eglseder because I think he had a greater variety of options, particularly the step-back, Falker was much more of an around the rim player and he just couldn't get there on Eglseder.

I'm not sold on Egleseder at all. In fact I think one could credibly argue that UNI was even better at times when O'Rear was on the floor. If someone is really an all decade candidate, the team shouldn't be just as good, if not better, when you are not on the floor. Note that you can't say that about people like Tatum, Brooks, Korver, Jacobson, etc.

I think it speaks to the kind of coaching and the type of players that UNI has had over the past 10 years that we've had the success that we've had and probably don't have a single player among the 5 best in the conference for the decade.
