I wonder if the turd who used to frequent VT will come on here and talk about "felons"?

Unfortunate for Drake. Hopefully it will be dealt with and these kids will learn from it.

Stupid decision obviously, but I hardly think they'll be kicked off the tram entirely.

While I agree with this, it still pisses me off. It's the first time I can remember any Drake men's b-ball player showing up in the police blotter since Ricky Watley in about 1980. Watley was also a good kid who did something stupid.....he ended up being a career military man.

If I had to guess, it will probably be something like a 1-3 game suspension.....whatever is in accordance with the school's policy for student-athletes code of conduct.

Not a horrible crime, just stupid. Shoplifting from a sportings good store (allegedly). I hope it was at least Drake gear, and not some kind of Iowa or Iowa State stuff.....or UNI. :D

Not possible, Des Moines barely acknowledges UNI exists, let alone stock any UNI gear in stores there. :D

If I ran a sporting goods store in Des Moines and made my livelyhood selling team gear, I wouldn't stock UNI gear, either.
There are three rules that I live by, never get less than 12 hours sleep, never gamble with a guy who has the same first name as a city and never get involved with a chick with a tattoo of a dagger on her body. Stick to that and everything else is gravy!

Actually I've been fairly impressed with the selection of UNI gear at that Sheels, and even the one in Iowa City.

Anywho... This probably isn't a huge deal at most places, but I think the culture and expectations at Drake are a little different when it comes to this kind of stuff. Phelps is already in hot water with the fans, it will be interesting to see how he handles this.

Do they have a big ferris wheel in the Des Moines Sheels? I've only been to the Sheels in Omaha twice, I really didn't care too much for it. They have a bunch of stuff, people that know what they are selling, but it is huge and too spread out. It takes too long to find what you want. I went for fishing gear and got stuck in the camping department. And it took forever to get any help. Personally, I simply like smaller, more concise sporting goods stores. I bought my newest, not Wal Mart bike at Olympia Cycle, they only sell bikes. I buy my kids baseball equipment at Primetime, they only sell baseball and softball stuff. I don't buy gas at Sam's Club or Hy Vee, I buy gas at the gas station. It's just the way I like to shop. However, I do buy my underwear and beef jerky at Wal Mart. How beef jerky and underwear got into the same sentence I will never know.

Outside of the Drake book store and a few other places in the Drake neighborhood, good luck finding any Drake gear in Des Moines.

A 1-3 game suspension would mean that Rice misses the opener with Iowa St, a game that is pretty important to Drake fans (and, to a lesser extent, all of the schools in the MVC due to the limited number of BCS opportunities).

On top of that. Rice will miss the game while noted thief Royce White will get to play for Iowa St.

At least Rice didn't punch out the security guard like Royce White did.
