Taylor transferred to SIU after being kicked off the Wisconsin team when he was arrested for burglary.

I think he got kicked off there before even making it to the fall semester. Screwed up in summer school, IIRC.

IIRC, Taylor is the reason that Wisc PG Josh Gasser is not at UNI. I think that Gasser was set to come to UNI, but Taylor got kicked off the team and his scholarship opened up for Gasser. Just an interesting tidbit.

Southern Illinois junior guard Diamond Taylor has been suspended indefinitely after he was charged Saturday with driving under the influence, the school announced on Monday.

Taylor, a 6-4 shooting guard, was arrested early Saturday morning. He started nine games last season and averaged 4.3 points.

"I'm extremely disappointed in Diamond,” Southern Illinois coach Barry Hinson said in a statement. “We're in the business of educating student-athletes and teaching them how to conduct themselves on and off court, and this is a significant setback.

“The question now is how do we react? I met with Diamond this morning and issued a challenge to him to become a first-class student and resident of Carbondale. How he responds will determine his status going forward.”

Saturday’s DUI arrest was the latest of Taylor’s off-the-court troubles.

Hinson also announced in early August that Taylor would face internal disciplinary measures due to pending charges for theft of a bicycle.

Is SIU's APR that low that Taylor would really matter?

I see they are at 908 multi year, but a 837 last year

The multi year is down from 945 the year before and 860 the 09-10 school year.


So...yeah, he actually could make a difference in a year or two on the mutli year.

Graduation, with even low grades, is better than leaving in "bad standing". We have our answer based on the direction of SIU's APR

On pace to graduate this year. I believe this has a lot to do with it. I have no inside information but would like to speculate that SIU will not rene the scholarship once he graduates and encourages him to move on.
