This could have a serious effect amongst other sports though. Lets say ISU decides to give football the stipend, but they also have to give women's volleyball and soccer the stipend as well to match. There will definitely be valley schools out there that will not give to volleyball and soccer simply because they do not play football. This will set up a clear recruiting advantage in those womens sports. I wonder if a football school like UNI would elect not to pay the stipend to their players. This could definitely upset the normal balance of things when it concerns football too.
I can't see any school in the valley not doing it for at least basketball.
This could have more of an effect on athletics than some think and it could simply be due to the fact that some schools in the valley have football and some do not.
