He missed a free throw with 0.9 on the clock that could have won the game in regulation.

Wow! Isn't it interesting how fired up we can get on this board when someone other than the "powers that be" are awarded an honor! Keep on fighting, Aces, who cares if you're stepping too high up the ladder. This team is building an identity of hard work, intensity, and competitiveness....will we defeat all our opponents? No, but the Aces are a group of guys who have had to battle from the bottom rung and try to move up, a step at a time. Colt joined the team when it was at rock bottom. He and his teammates have had to work against heavy odds unlike many other teams. I'm proud of our guys...and look forward to seeing more achievements by the guys in purple! GO, ACES!

All-time goat list? Haha! Do you expect Colt to make all his FT's? It's not like he missed both.
I was leaning toward Colt before the selection was even made - I mean, you gotta' award someone on the team that beat Butler. This is the same Butler isn't it??? Will Nevada even be a top 100 team this year?

Like to see this kind of team pride.
Will always back my Braves, but for some reason, kinda' like this Aces group this year, and will be rooting for them to succeed in the rest of the non-conf. since they beat heavyweight Butler. Would love to see them get into a tournament that means something...at least NIT.

Stop it.

Nobody is saying that Ryan shouldn't have won it because he plays for UE. There isn't a UE conspiracy.

All some people are saying is that a guy that had a chance to win a game at the free throw in regulation, but blew it, shouldn't win POW. You may not like it and you may not agree with it, but that it is a pretty fair argument.

I think had Ryan had that stat line in 30 minutes of play and had he scored more than 9 points with the clock running, everyone would have been fine with the award. Take a look at Doug McDs stats look like after 2 games...only played 39 minutes total yet has 37 points.

No, it's not the same Butler team.

Will Butler be a top100 team this year? No one knows yet...

Always funny to see the Colt haters. There isn't one team in the Valley that would pass on this guy being on their team.

Being able to get to the FT line is part of the game. For one it shows he is not just standing outside waiting for a jumper and is not afraid to drive to the bucket and doesn't try to avoid contact.

As far as him missing a FT late, yep he missed the first one. Which made the second that much more pressure packed and he nailed it.

There was not a better game anyone had when you look at the entire game, points, rebounds, assist and steals. Sure he didn't shoot the ball great but look at the total game and he was deserving of the award.

Why does it matter if you score points with the clock running? If anything, scoring points while making three throws is more valuable since it gets the other team in foul trouble.

Look, does it really even matter? You can really tell the season has started and people are hungry for something to fight over. Player of the week honors in week one isn't really something that requires all that much debate. It is essentially meaningless.

Yep. It's all about hating Colt. Man, we just hate him. FWIW, I don't think one person has said they wouldn't want him on their team. If you can find someone who said that, let me know.

Caleb Patterson had a better overall game then Colt. Caleb didn't have 4 turnovers. Caleb didn't have a 26% shooting night. Caleb had almost as many points and rebounds then Colt in 11 less minutes then Colt. Caleb's team also won, on the road as well.

But you're right. All about us hating Colt.

CP: 17 points, 5 boards, 1 assist, 0 turnovers, 50% shooting, 31 minutes
CR: 23 points, 7 boards, 3 assists, 4 turnovers, 26% shooting, 42 minutes

Something tells me the voters looked at points, board, and assists and then made the call. Maybe that is all they value and if so, more power to them. Just thought CP had the better game

FWIW, I just like to argue. It's fun, especially among you guys. Don't take it personally :D
