Temple is the real deal and will compete with Xavier for the title in the A10.

Good luck Shox; this will be a significant test.

There are no "must wins" at this point in the season.

For at-large purposes, I'd say it's definitely one.

Unless you think WSU is gonna go 16-2 in the Valley this year. A loss here and we're in the same spot as this time last year.

When you say it is a must win 4 games into the season - then you are saying you know how the season will unfold and how good or bad the MVC will be. There are three cases in points

2006 - WSU didn't really have one good non-conference victory. Losses to Illinois and Mich St seemed to seal their fate. But winning a strong MVC propelled them into the NCAA as at-large and onto a sweet 16.

2007 - WSU has wins over GM, LSU, Syracuse and Wyoming - perception was they had locked up the NCAA bid in december.

2011 - Even last year, without a significant non-conference win they were in the hunt. The killer loss was SIU. Take that away and get a win against MSU and VCU they might have been at-large.

I agree this is a type of opportunity that WSU (and the MVC) needs to take advantage of to be at-large and multi-bid league. Losing to NCAA team(s) are less damaging than losing to SIU or other cannon fodder of the MVC.

SB,

I'm not gonna try to predict the future. I really don't wanna assume this is gonna be a 2006-type season.

This is WSU's chance to prove how they match up with quality teams. While losses to these teams certainly aren't bad losses, it further proves that WSU can't beat team.

If WSU can't beat a team worth a damn outside the conference, they aren't getting an at-large. That's for sure.

WSU looks like a quality NIT team at best.
