Also, Elgin should already have been in contact with whichever expansion candidates he likes. He should be able to move and invite within days when/if this goes officially official.

I guarantee whoever Elgin invites, I'm not going to like it.

I really hope WSU is able to get out of this dumpster fire.

ESPN updated their article and it now says this:

Creighton has emerged as the favorite to become the 10th team, and would also join next season, according to sources.

Maybe there was something to Creighton's president being in DC yesterday...

I've always thought they'd be dumb not to go after Creighton.

And I don't think Creighton will enjoy the success there they've had here, but I certainly don't think they'd be a bottom feeder. It's not like any of the Catholic 7 teams are THAT good. Creighton would be just fine.

The MVC, however, would be significantly hurt by this.

The Pope was unavailable for comment about the resignation being linked to the rumor he was tapped to be the new Big East Commissioner.

I'm still the only one in the world who believes, but WSU to the Mountain West makes so much sense for all parties, but for whatever reason the MWC is standing still. They should have a lot of interest in cutting the legs out from under a major threat to their upper-major kingdom.

Alright Elgin. You had time to find a plan, whatever that plan was. Now let's see some cards.

From USA Today:

"Most people at my level would tell you, never have you felt so helpless. You just wait," said one Missouri Valley athletic director, who spoke to USA TODAY Sports on the condition of anonymity because of the sensitive nature of realignment issues. "We're just sitting here wondering if Creighton goes, which of the 26 schools in our footprint that make some sense should we be pursuing. You just have no idea what tomorrow is like because you don't have any control of it."

If Creighton leaves, the Valley would love to add St. Louis, but it appears the Billikens are likely headed to the Catholic 7. The replacement would likely come from a pool of Midwestern schools such as Valparaiso (Horizon), Oakland (Summit) or perhaps Oral Roberts (Southland).
