The MVC should stay at 9, you still get a true round robin plus it is only a 16 game league schedule, that is 2 extra home games or buy games to draw in revenue and strengthen our non-conference schedules.
Thoughts and prayers to WSU finding a new conference.

You actually get the extra games and potential sos non-con upgrade if you have 12 teams because you only play 16 conference games instead of 18. I don't think you can look at rpi of potential members because their rpi would be much different if they were in our conference. Schools like ORU, Belmont, Denver, Murray St, Valpo, etc. are pretty good basketball schools and would be good basketball schools in our league. 10 or 12 works for me but 9 doesn't make much sense IMO.

If we went to 12, would it make sense to add three conference games to December and one to February? This would allow for a 22 game complete round robin conference season. We are already losing the bracketbuster, bracketbuster return, and Mountain/Valley challenge. In theory, this would only reduce any flexibility that currently exists for MVC schools in scheduling by one game. The downside is we beat each other up just a little bit more. Thoughts?

This quote from that article, granted without context, made me laugh:

“I have no idea what’s going on,” Elgin said.

Another worrisome quote from one the ADs -"Elgin has his secret list of schools" (paraphrased). Why aren't school presidents and ADs closely involved in this? Is the MVC really a Dougtatorship?

How do we know they aren't? If they aren't at least having discussions then every AD and school president needs terminated in addition to Elgin.

Any that would talk about it publicly, also need fired.

I really think the administrators are willing to leave this completely up to Elgin. That way, if it doesn't work out, they can't be blamed.

I guess I could see this, I doubt it though.

Basically, your best option is to try and lure Dayton/SLU if either of those schools aren't taken by the C7. SLU is unlikely, because of their eastern affiliations, but I think we can convince Dayton to join if they had no similar partners in the A10. That would be a net downgrade in terms of basketball, but almost certainly an upgrade in terms of support (Dayton has HUGE revenues, something like $10,000,000 a year).

Once those options are extinguished, look to expand to 10 immediately with Valparaiso, XDSU's, etc. If Illinois State, UNI, Wichita State, or Evansville start to try and leave, you have to build the league up to 12 teams preemptively.
