John Ekey leaving Illinois State

I know some people close to the U of I basketball program, and the noise coming from there is that he may have to start for them. They are done recruiting for next season and that leaves Ekey as their second biggest player. They may elect to just go with a smaller lineup, but I would imagine he gets some significant playing time because of his size.

then your friend doesnt know the illini recruits cause they have a 6'10 and a 6'9 freshman coming in and ekey is 6'7 the last time i checked. He may start out of a lack of experience though.

One of the reasons I don't really care that he's going there is because Groce tried recruiting him to Ohio, and our old assistant Paris Parham (Jankovich staff) is now there. He had other offers but the familiarity of the situation is kind of a no brainer.

His scholarship was up. That was his only reason for leaving. He redshirted his frosh year, so he used up all four years of his scholarship but still has a year of eligibility.
