Follow up after reading my list...

This league has lost a ton of coaching talent in the last decade. Its really too bad...

I agree that we'll learn more about Lansing after he loses Odum.

I would remove Jacobson from the Top Tier until he gets UNI back to the tournament. He had a great 4th season and then has been a shade above mediocre since then.

Jake also had Doug McDermott and Josh Gasser yanked out from under him with no warning and was relying on a guy that didn't even have any DII offers (AJ) to be his best scorer and a guy that was a 4 for 5 (Jake Koch) to be his best overall player the past two years. Marc Sonnen was the only older player on the team with any offers to speak of out of high school (Colorado St, Creighton, Green Bay). What he did with not a lot of talent on the roster is pretty miraculous.

The talent level is recovering and you will see a big step forward the next two years...

Isn't it kind of part of the coaches job to recruit talent? While dealing with the loss of Dougie is excusable, for sure, having only one older player on the team with any offers is more of a personal(nnel) problem.

I do not care much for Jacobsen's style of play, but he is certainly a good coach. He has been good at getting a system to work with the talent he has. If he can upgrade the talent, he could do big things again.

Top Tier-

Jacobson

Tier II-
Ford
Hinson
Simmons

Tier III-
Lusk
Lansing (It gets ugly after Odum is gone)
Moser

Tier Too soon to tell-
Giacolletti
Muller (I think he ends up #10 by a large margin, but I'll give him the benefit of the doubt right now...)

I don't completely disagree with this but I would put Jacobson in Tier 2. Moser has 9 years experience with 5th place being his best and three 10th place finishes so I don't think you will be accurate with your Muller is 10th by far comment. In Mosers defense at ISU, he didn't recruit well early on but he had brought in a solid cast in OE, Boo and Slack at the end He probably could have had a decent year if he wasn't fired.

I would rank in the following order:

1. Marshall - This is by a large margin.
2. Jacobson - Also by a large margin over the field.
3. Giacolettei - Needs to prove he can win at Drake, but he is one of three coaches with multiple NCAA appearances and one of three with a sweet 16.
4. Lansing - Only other coach that has an NCAA birth. He also has a winning record at ISU and in the MVC.
5. Hinson - Great record. Four NITs. No NCAAs. Could be fourth or even third on the list.
6. Ford - Good at Kent State. Bad at Bradley. Still has three post season births in 4 years.
7. Simmons - VERY mediocre record. Winning 21 games last year was monumental compared to his traditional mediocrity.
8. Muller - Incredibly pedestrian with a team picked to finish 2nd in his first year. Still has a winning record.
9. Lusk - His best (of two seasons) was a 16-16 finish.
10. Moser - A long history of 16 win seasons.

Oh come on now fellas....you're just trolling if you're putting Jake in the same group as Marshall.

It's not even up for discussion at this point.
