Meh, it was what you expect from an exhibition. Ready for the real thing next week!

WSU's top 8 (VanVleet, Baker, Cotton, Wessel, Coleby, Carter, Early, Lufile) can really get after it defensively. I was pleased with the obvious emphasis on playing d with your feet and not your hands leading up to the game. It's almost like our team was one of the few to get the notice from the NCAA about fouling this year.

OBU might win a game or 2 in the Valley on the right night. They don't have have any depth (to compete at D1) but the first 6 were competitive. Our guys gave up 1 basket in the first half, and it wasn't like they missed a bunch of open shots. I counted 1 pretty much unguarded 3 from about 24 feet that should have gone down. Otherwise EVERYTHING was contested. It was stifling.

It's hardly breaking news but WSU is going to be good. I'm a little concerned about the shooting though. There is a lot of potentially good shooters, but they aren't going to get layups and dunks against better teams with anywhere near the frequency of last night.

If you don't drop your shoulder, don't expect a charging call.

It should be noted that our 3PT% in 2012-2013 was 33.9%, and we shot 36.4% for the game. I'm okay with that if that is our bad game shooting percentage. Much more concerning is the sub 70% FT shooting, as that will win and lose a lot of games this year. Not as bad as Oklahoma Baptist's FT shooting though, which was the worst I've ever seen from a collegiate program at any level (33%, 0% in the second half).

WSU should be a good shooting team this year. Time will tell.

Little concerned with post scoring against bigger and more athletic bigs. Missed some easy ones. Will miss Hall in that respect. Gonna be up to the guards a little more this year, much like it was when Hall got hurt last year. Every team we play won't allow Kadeem to get close enough to dunk all the time. Carter could prove to be a good post scorer with that hook shot, but time will tell how consistent.

Not too worried though. Thought the guys adjusted to the new rules pretty well. Won't always be that easy to defend, but it was a good start compared to many other teams that have played exhibitions so far.
