Jake Odum is a player for the ages...but make no mistake about it Blue fans, he is not even almost close to the impact Bird had. Back to praising Odum. He was so tough to guard because he had a flare for the unorthodox. The bottom line was he did whatever it was going to take to make the Sycs successful. He wasn't a great shooter, but low and behold, he made key perimeter shots. Although he didn't appear overly quick, there he was getting into the paint and either scoring or assisting. He did complain a lot to the refs, but I excuse that to being very competitive and wanting every play to go his way. Hats off to an excellent leader. He will be missed.

The ultimate compliment was given with about a minute to go in the game when Lansing pulled him to a great Scott Trade Center ovation. Shocker fans and players joined in the ovation. One of the most classiest moves I have ever seen in my days following sports was when Ron Baker wrapped Odum up in a genuine respect hug and further encouraged the Shocker faithful to pay the deserved respect to an outstanding competitor. Let's all take note on how to be classy.
